Upcoming CPD event: Demystifying diversity: the role of the academic in inspiring cohesion in the classroom
About the session
In this session we will consider how being consistently inclusive in the classroom can help build meaningful relationships between staff and students and foster supportive peer relations which can improve student outcomes in relation to key metrics for the TEF such as retention.
We will briefly explore what prevents us from being inclusive and how this impacts on our students before moving onto scenario based activities which will allow participants to reflect on practical approaches to inclusivity in an academic environment.

What next?
Inspired by the pre-workshop materials, group discussions will enable staff to share ideas, discover best practice and contribute examples from their own experience of managing diversity in classroom.
To support these group discussions facilitators will share their experiences of how recognising student diversity can improve student engagement in a professional services context and invite colleagues to consider the positive potential of this in relation to the learning experience.
