Mental Health Awareness Week: 14 – 20 May 2018

Today, 14th May it’s the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. This year the focus is on looking at one of the big drivers behind the rise of mental ill health, Stress.  This is quite timely as a review of our policy on Stress at Work has recently taken place.  This has been driven by our commitment under the Hallam Deal, to create a positive culture with a focus on staff engagement and wellbeing.  The new policy was approved at a recent meeting of the University Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee and is available here. The policy includes a new stress risk assessment form and reinforces the need to proactively manage the potential causes of stress in the workplace. The launch of this policy will be supported by a new Managing Stress in the Workplace course for managers. This may be booked on CORE.
