MEng Mechanical Engineering student Jodie Howlett who was named one of the UK’s top 50 women under 35 in engineering by the Daily Telegraph in June 2017, has had her application to the Space Studies Program (SSP) accepted by The International Space University, Illkirch-Graffenstaden, France.
Jodie has been offered a full scholarship by the UK Space Agency to attend the program.
Jodie spent the third year of her MEng Course on placement at Rolls-Royce, helping the company develop more powerful and efficient jet engines for passenger planes. Her advice to future students:
“Ask lots of questions and get yourself involved while you’re at university. The more you put in, the more you get out.
Say yes to whatever opportunities present themselves, and don’t be afraid of a challenge. You will develop your skills most when you are out of your comfort zone.”
